Kevin Bludso was born and reared in Compton, California, by a mother who supported the Black Panthers and a father who worked as a police officer. He spent his summers in Corsicana, Texas, where he learned the craft of barbecuing and worked long, sweltering hours on the pits at his grandmother's renowned BBQ business, to stay out of trouble. Kevin launched Bludso's BBQ in 2008 as a little walk-up stall in the middle of Compton. Since then, the business has expanded to include several sites across California, Texas, and even Australia.
