Boil: Cooking Directions on the Stove
1. In a saucepan, bring water to a boil.*
2. Stir in rice.**
3. Cover. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes or until all water is absorbed.

To make 4 servings (3/4 cup cooked) or 3 cups cooked rice, use 1 cup rice and 2 cups water.
To make 8 servings (3/4 cup cooked) or 6 cups cooked rice, use 2 cups rice and 4 cups water.
To make 12 servings (3/4 cup cooked) or 9 cups cooked rice, use 3 cups rice and 6 cups water.
**Add 1 Tbsp. butter and 1 tsp. salt per cup of uncooked rice, if desired. For drier rice, use 1/4 cup less water. For moister rice, use 1/4 cup more water. Microwave: Cooking Directions in the Microwave***
1. In a 2-quart microwave-safe dish, combine 2 cups water and 1 cup rice.**
2. Cover and microwave on high for 5 minutes. Reduce setting to 50% power; microwave for 15 minutes. Let stand for 5 minutes.
**Add 1 Tbsp. butter and 1 tsp. salt per cup of uncooked rice, if desired. For drier rice use 1/4 cup less water. For moister rice, use 1/4 cup more water.
***It is recommended that only 1 cup rice be prepared in the microwave at a time. Microwave ovens vary. Cooking times are approximate.
