The annual legume known as chickpea, or chick pea, belongs to the Faboideae subfamily of the Fabaceae family. Different names for its varieties include Egyptian pea, garbanzo or garbanzo bean, chhana, chana, or channa, and gram or Bengal gram. Protein content is high in chickpea seeds. El Sembrador Garbanzo beans and chickpeas are two terms that can be used interchangeably to describe the same type of bean, called kabuli chickpea.
