How to Prepare: Sort and rinse beans; place in large pot. Soak: Add 3 cups water for each 1 cup (1/2 lb) beans. Soak as desired, rinse and drain before cooking. Quick: Heat to boiling; boil 2 minutes. Remove from heat; cover and let stand 1 hour. Overnight: Cover; let stand 6-8 hours or overnight. Cook: In large pot, add 3 to 4 cups water for each 1/2 lb soaked beans. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat, cover, simmer 1-1/2 to 2 hours or until desired tenderness.

Suggestion: Beans are a natural agricultural product. Despite the use of modern processing equipment, it is not always possible to remove all foreign material. Before cooking, sort beans to remove small stones or soil. Rinse under running water.
