For manual gearboxes and transaxles, Red Line Oil's MTL and MT-90 are intended to offer great protection and better shiftability. These oils have solved the issue of hard shifting in thousands of transmissions that had shifting issues. How? Their coefficient of friction is suitable for the majority of manual transmission synchronizers (many gear oils, engine oils, and ATFs are too slippery for proper synchro engagement). Moreover, MTL and MT-90's broad range of viscosities enable appropriate shifting across the whole temperature range that the transmission will encounter. Because of the very high viscosity index of the synthetic base oils utilized, viscosity remains mostly constant as temperature varies. MTL has an acceptable viscosity of low 70W at extremely low temperatures and high 80W, almost 85W, at high temperatures.
