Powdered milk is a processed dairy product that is produced by evaporating milk until it becomes dry. It is also referred to as milk powder, dried milk, or dry milk. One reason for drying milk is preservation; because of its low moisture level, milk powder keeps significantly longer than liquid milk and doesn't need to be refrigerated. Powdered milk is a common staple among survivalists and in places where fresh milk is scarce since it is considerably easier to transport and has a longer shelf life than ordinary milk.
