Because of the unsaturated fat content of maize oil, very limited and early scientific data shows that ingesting roughly 1 tbsp (16 grams) of corn oil daily may lower the risk of heart disease. The FDA determines that there is little scientific evidence to back up this claim. To accomplish this potential effect, maize oil should be used to replace a similar quantity of saturated fat while without increasing the overall number of calories consumed each day.
