Details
Scottish Oatmeal is the original porridge of ancient Scotland. This true whole grain oatmeal is stone ground on our century-old mills. These Scottish oats have a smooth, creamy texture that makes excellent porridge or Scottish oatcakes.
• Oatmeal originated in Scotland centuries ago. Instead of flattening or cutting them like rolled or steel cut oats, the Scots created a coarse meal by slowly grinding the oats between two large millstones.
• Scottish oats are more like traditional porridge oats: smooth, creamy and delicious!
• Many years ago, Bob visited Scotland to learn the art of stone milling at the historic, water-powered Preston Mill. Today, we create Bob's Red Mill Scottish Oatmeal using the same authentic techniques.
• Oats are incredibly nutritious—they’re a good source of fiber and protein and low in saturated fat.
