The author of this book shows how the Norsk Hostfest functions as a celebration of what it means to be Norwegian-American using anthropological research. At the festival, there are many potent representations of ethnic identity on display, but as food is the most widespread, it is the main symbol explored in this study. The Norsk Hostfest combines the forces of globalization, localization, and ethnicity to preserve Norwegian-American ethnic identity in an ever-evolving globe while also allowing for the upkeep and enjoyment of Norwegian-American culture. All ages of Norwegian-Americans who desire to learn more about their own culture will find this book to be both fascinating and educational.
