Citric acid is a mild organic acid naturally found in citrus fruits like lemons and limes. It is widely used in food, cosmetics, and cleaning products. In its natural form, citric acid appears as small, clear crystals resembling table salt and, while odorless, has a distinctly tart, acidic taste.
While citrus fruits are the primary sources of citric acid, smaller amounts can also be found in certain berries, cherries, and tomatoes.
